The course threads have a lot of extra 'bite' to give you strong retention power in all types of wood, including MDF. Due to their sharp tips, they are considered 'self tapping' or 'self piercing' screws

Cinergy #8 truss head speaker screws are great for assembling cabinets and installing woofers or subwoofers. They have a black coating for enhanced corrosion and abrasion resistance. The course threads have a lot of extra 'bite' to give you strong retention power in all types of wood, including MDF. Due to their sharp tips, they are considered 'self tapping' or 'self piercing' screws but we always recommend drilling pilot holes whenever installing any screw in any type of wood.  This is done as a precaution to lower your chances of splitting the wood. Price listed is for 50 screws.
