Dedicated soft dome midrange drivers are a proven, highly sought-after solution in classic 3-way designs, and the HiVi DMB-A brings that performance to the DIY community at a very reasonable price point. Built around a large 50mm (2-inch) hand-treated fabric dome coated with a proprietary damping compound, this driver delivers open, transparent vocal reproduction without the aggressive breakup spikes typical of rigid metal diaphragms. Its broad radiating profile provides wide, uniform horizontal dispersion, ensuring an effortless acoustic transition to your high-frequency tweeter.

The motor is an underhung design that keeps the voice coil immersed entirely within the magnetic gap. The voice coil is wound with copper-clad aluminum wire on an aluminum former and backed by a fully shielded symmetric double-magnet ferrite system. This design gives you a high 80 watt power handling, an efficient 92 dB sensitivity (2.83V/1m), and low harmonic distortion across its usable 500 Hz to 6,500 Hz frequency response.

For speaker builders, using the DMB-A is pretty straightforward. The rear of the driver is fully enclosed with a tuned, non-resonant acoustic chamber. Because the rear motor is completely sealed, the DMB-A can be dropped directly onto the front panel on your speaker without needing a separate internal chamber to protect it from woofer back-pressure. It also has a heavy cast aluminum faceplate for easy flush mounting. This one is tough to beat for it's price.
